Welcome to my first ever weekly reading roundup blog!
This will be a weekly post where I detail all the books I read the previous seven days!
#1: The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Genre(s):Mystery, Young Adult
My rating: 4.75 stars
Thoughts: This series was on my “Prioritized Reads of 2023” that I wrote at the beginning of this year, and it had been on my shelf since December 2022. Since I am getting into series (finally) I decided to just start the series with small expectations, and I LOVED it. The first book is definitely the weakest of the series, but that isn’t a bad thing! I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this and immediately went and read the second book!
#2: The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Genre(s):Mystery, Young Adult
My rating: 5 stars
Thoughts: What the first book did well, this book really improved upon. I was only going to read a few chapters of this book and then pick it back up the next day, but I could not put it down for the life of me. Faster paced than the first, I was hooked from page one.
#3: Mister Magic by Kiersten White
Genre(s):Horror, Thriller
My rating: 5 stars
Thoughts: This was my first pick since joining the Aardvark Book Club. I had dread sitting at the bottom of my stomach the entire time I was reading this and I LOVED it. I am a big fan of fiction that feels unsettling the whole way through and Mister Magic delivered. Very culty, very creepy. Highly recommend it.
#4: The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Genre(s): Mystery, Young Adult
My rating: 5 stars
Thoughts: I know that there is a fourth book in this series coming out this month, but as I originally had this suggested to me as a trilogy, I will be treating it as such! I thought this was a great book, and I highly recommend this series if you have been considering picking it up!
#5: The Only One Left by Riley Sager
Genre(s): Thriller
My rating: 5 stars
Thoughts: This was my first Riley Sager book, and on the internet I find there are people who LOVE or HATE his writing, with very little in between. I am happy to report I absolutely loved reading this and I did not guess the plot twists at all. I read this in one sitting and I had such a fun time doing so!
