This was an incredibly quiet week for me reading wise, and I only completed two books. But that is okay! After all the reading I have done for months, my eyeballs needed a break!

Here are the two books I read this week, with my thoughts!

I Do (Not) by Anni Lee

Genre(s): Contemporary Fiction, Romance

My rating: 3 stars

Description via The Storygraph: “A night in Vegas is all fun and games until you wake up with a ring on your finger and no clue who put it there.

Jacob Conner was never planning to get married, and he's certain that sentiment didn't change even when he was completely black out drunk on the Vegas strip. Which is also why he has no problem ignoring the elephant in the room and heading back to work at the front desk of a San Francisco luxury hotel.

So when the hotel holds a big conference for its shareholders and Jacob's otherwise cold and aloof boss, Aaron Craig: billionaire and heir to the Craig Hotel Empire, starts taking a special interest in him, he has no idea what he did to be hand picked as the glorified babysitter for his equally important and pompous older brother, Trevor Craig, who just flew in for the week from... Las Vegas.

This is going to be a very, very long week.

I Do (NOT) is an accidental marriage contemporary romantic comedy, featuring three points of view in a billionaire tug-o-war over a sarcastic and unsuspecting desk clerk. You can expect enemies to lovers banter, boss/employee scandal, a lopsided love triangle, crossed boundaries, and a couple slices of humble pie in this gay office romance.

Formerly released under Ninestar Press, the story has been rewritten from the ground up with added content and expanded dialogue and chapters.”

My thoughts: This was just okay, but honestly it was used as a palette cleanser for me, so I didn’t mind that much. I usually enjoy a love triangle but this one just didn’t hit the mark for me, unfortunately.

So Bright So Bright So Bright by Adam Lawlor

Genre(s):  Poetry

My rating: 4.5 stars

Description via The Storygraph: So Bright So Bright So Bright is a collection of poems that take place before, during, and after a couple's romantic relationship. It takes the reader through a journey of butterflies, racing hearts, midnight walks, kitchen light sanctuaries, promises, the long way home, wonder, regret, longing, and deep nostalgia.

A poetry collection that breaks you and builds you, Lawlor has you question if he has been a bystander to your own life.”

My thoughts: I won this as a giveaway prize on The Storygraph! I have actually won four different books through the site and this has been my favorite so far!

I would’ve honestly never heard of this book outside of the giveaway and that would’ve been a shame. The imagery, the prose, UGH so good. Not perfect for sure and some poems were better than others, but overall this was a great little book of poetry and I highly recommend it!

What book(s) did you read this week? Let me know in the comments!
